Hi. I am back at the office, which explains my silence .

Continuing my Geneva pictures - I decided to post the photos I took of building, specifically residences in and around Rue de Lausanne and Rue du Versonnex. They're pretty things aren't they? They kinda want to make you watch Amelie over and over again

I apologise - I haven't been making my rounds...I will once I get all this stuff on my desk out of the way yeah?

so neatlah the apartments. Mon 5-Jul-2004 17:17

Geneva Part IV - The Tram

View all 6 photos...
I'm too lazy to do some research on the pics I took, so I'm just going to leave you with the photos of my mode of transportation (apart from foot) in Geneva.

The tram was very interesting - I dunno if I had told you guys already, but how you go about it in Geneva is that you purchase your ticket from the ticket machine (no. 3, 4 and 5). The tickets purchased are not based on where you want to go, but rather, how long you want to use the tram for. For the shortest trip, I had to pay about 2 francs and 20 (er equivalent to their cents). The shortest trip is 30 minutes, a 60 minutes one is about 2 francs 60.

But there's no one to check your ticket anyways. It's all based on honesty. Isn't that great?

That's something I never heard of. Btw, how do you know how long you gonna take the tram for? What if you decided half hour, but then got off at a nearer stop? I'd like to see them do that honesty-based concept here for our Komuter and LRT trains Wed 23-Jun-2004 08:23

Geneva Part III - Brunswick Monument at Quai du Mont Blanc.

Tribute for my mommie, who likes all types of flower pictures

View all 11 photos...
The Duke of Brunswick, Charles Federick August William, was a distinguished linguist, horsemen and musician was born 1804. He dethroned and chased out in 1830 and thus, took refuge in Paris, but spent his last three years back in Geneva. Mr. Charles Frederick August William was an eccentric and a paranoiac.

His death in 18 August 1873 provided a tidy sum for the city Geneva. But in his will, Geneva, as his residuary legatee must provide his final resting place that is in “an eminent and worthy location, executed according to the established concept by the finest artists of the time, without consideration of cost”.

He also stipulated that his mausoleum must be the exact replica of the Scaliger family tomb in Verona, Itay (circa 14th century).

Wonderful series! Mon 21-Jun-2004 22:22

Geneva - Part II; The Broken Chair

View all 8 photos...
Took the tram yesterday to the UN buildings. Particularly, I wanted to see the "Broken Chair".

Broken Chair is at Palais des Nations is a symbolic monument by a Geneva artist, Daniel Berset for Handicap International. The Broken Chair depicts the human suffering by landmines. I should have taken a closer picture of the chair, I think I will, later today.

I learnt from http://eclipse.span.ch/broken.htm, that "Chair" in french means flesh.

thanks for sharing this with us..like it lots! Sat 19-Jun-2004 07:49
